Aquatints
& Etchings 2000 - 2001
The aquatints
and etchings of Italy were created when I was a teaching assistant for
the SMU in
Italy program during the summer of 2001. Instead of taking a camera with
me on this trip, decided to
carry a stack of copper plates and a sketch book. In the fall of 2001
I spent two weeks exploring
Paris,
France. These images were made on-site, allowing for a careful study of
the subject. Working
from life and only in black and white, I seek to create a sense of light
that reveals and at times conceals to
create a more tactile image or traslation of a particular experience.
